Gene Zarnick III is the founder and CEO of Geez, a super app that makes group plans, without the group chat. Geez brings together over a dozen uniquely simple tools for group gatherings and life planning, from dinner and date night to getaways, holidays and the weekly groceries. Geez went live on iPhone and Android on October 18, 2026 (Geez Super App). Gene grew up in Erie, graduated from McDowell High School in 2003 and from Penn State in 2007 with a degree in Management Information Systems.

In 2010 he left Erie for Connecticut to join Aetna’s three-year IT Leadership Development Program, knowing nothing about health insurance or the corporate world. Over 16 years he progressed through roles across business and IT, was part of the alpha team designing and implementing the Affordable Care Act, including joining group calls with President Obama, and led enterprise strategic programs across Lean Six Sigma, clinical solutions and member experience.

He recently left Aetna, after leading technology for the Individual business and, most recently, Digital Product across Medicaid. Gene began building Geez in 2022, working late nights around his job, and went full-time in September 2026. He lives in Connecticut and is in Erie every couple of weeks, working out of Radius to begin building Geez’s first community hub, a local team that builds the product alongside the groups who use it. Gene practices meditation daily and, in his spare time, writes poetry and music and loves traveling with his wife and two children.
