Radius is Hiring: Become a Community Organizer

At Radius, we empower people to enjoy the way they work and to achieve more by working together. Our community members participate in a wide variety of industries, often at the intersection of tech, marketing, the creative arts, and civil society.

And we’re looking for one new Community Organizer to join our team!

This position is ideal for someone looking for a part-time position that will allow them to pursue other projects or remote work in addition to their work at Radius. A Dedicate Membership at Radius is included with this job. Our Community Organizer will be supported by our Community Leader

Who We’re Looking For

We care more about finding someone who will thrive in this role than about your experience or academics. In other words, passion and hard work can outweigh a degree and credentials.

We are looking for someone who enjoys keeping spaces and systems organized. Radius needs a person who can spot problems and solve them before they become major issues. We’re searching for someone who is comfortable with a wide variety of responsibilities. Community Organizers should have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and be comfortable taking on new challenges.

Our ideal Community Organizer is someone great at helping others connect, resourceful, loves learning about new ideas, and is a champion for Erie.

We Hope You Are:

  • Social Every day you’ll meet new people, learn who they are, what they do, and how to support them. You’ll help new members join and get comfortable. You’ll be a go-to resource for people with ideas and questions throughout the day. You won’t need to know everything, just be comfortable finding someone with the answer. You’ll also give visitors and members tours of the space, get them acquainted with one another, and orient them to what the coworking movement is all about.

  • Resourceful We want someone who’s going to look for things that need doing and do them. Someone who is able to work with the people and things they have on hand to solve a problem. We value ingenuity and doggedness.

  • Organized Every day at Radius is a little bit different. Some days are A LOT different. There are a handful of routine daily tasks, but the unexpected happens constantly. We need someone who can adapt quickly when things don’t go as planned.

  • Eloquent Written and spoken communication is big here. 90% of the work we do at Radius is talking with people, listening, and understanding…and then working together to put good ideas into action.

  • Entrepreneurial We designed this role to allow you the flexibility to work on your own projects and explore ideas. You’ll be surrounded by a community of other innovators and creators. You’ll be balancing your work on behalf of Radius with work you’re doing for yourself.

  • Dynamic Our Community Organizers handle painting, organizing events, and giving tours to potential members. You might be asked to find the best way to hang art or to pull together a group lunch on Taco Tuesday. Amid those one-off tasks you’ll also handle the daily work of making introductions, brewing coffee, cleaning, and vetting news to distribute to members. But it’s not all on you, you’re here to help the Community Leader, not shoulder everything.

What’s Working at Radius Like?

Working at Radius will help you learn and develop valuable professional skills. You’ll have a chance to gain experience in operations & management, communications & community building, and business & civic engagement. You’ll learn about how people get work done in dozens of different ways.

You’ll spend your days surrounded by some of Erie’s most passionate, friendly, and brilliant people. Every day is new and different but it’s always exciting.

You’ll also have the freedom to make Radius better every day and see your ideas come to fruition.

But the big difference between working for Radius and working anywhere else is that you’re expected to explore the many ways that our community members work—how they use their skills, creativity, curiosity, interests, and discipline to get paid—so that YOU can discover YOUR next thing.

Our ideal team-mate is someone who wants to do their own thing their own way – just like other members of Radius – and recognizes the value of being surrounded by others to help you get there.
